Overview

Brookfield Renewable is seeking a highly skilled and experienced legal professional to join our team as a Senior Counsel for Trading and Compliance. In this role, you will provide legal support and management of trading and trading compliance matters for Brookfield Renewable's portfolio of renewable power generation assets located in the United States. Responsibilities

As Senior Counsel - Trading and Compliance, you will be responsible for:

- Providing legal support for Brookfield Renewable's trading activities, including negotiation, drafting, and review of contractual documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Advising business originators, traders, and commercial negotiators on the structuring and legal negotiation of power purchase agreements
- Drafting and managing power purchase agreements, master trading agreements, and related confirmations
- Providing support and guidance to contracting and compliance personnel
- Offering strategic legal advice to senior management and the Energy Marketing and Trading teams for negotiation of trading agreements and associated documentation
- Assisting with governance requirements for trading and sales activities, including preparation and review of necessary board, member, and partner consents
- Supporting mergers and acquisition transactions through diligence review of trading and markets related documentation and compliance matters and integration of acquired transaction portfolios and businesses

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

- 5-7 years of legal experience advising clients in trading activities and trading compliance
- Experience working in private practice on commercial transactions and/or as in-house legal counsel at a US energy or energy trading company
- A university degree in law and member of a state bar association
- Familiarity with all customary industry form master trading agreements (., ISDAs, WSPP, EEIs, NAESBs, etc.)
- Understanding of the laws, regulations, and rules applicable to the US independent power sector and related regulatory environments, particularly regarding energy trading and markets participation within US wholesale power markets
- Experience supporting trading and risk teams, and administering corporate trading and risk policies

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $270,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
