Job Title: Attorney-Advisor (General)

Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct authoritative and comprehensive legal research on complex areas of . copyright law, foreign and international copyright law, and jurisprudence.
- Prepare probing, innovative, and fully documented written arguments, briefs, studies, or other analytical documents related to legal or policy variables in copyright law.
- Provide legal advice to internal staff on all matters of copyright law and prepare materials for regulatory proceedings and policy work.
- Draft regulations, briefs, memoranda, and other legal materials in consultation with the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, or other senior staff.
- Research precedents and applicable statutes to provide opinions on proposed changes in policies and regulations.
- Prepare descriptive and background reports, compilations, surveys, and comparison of laws and bills for use by the Copyright Office, members of Congress, and high-level officials.
- Review difficult and complex legal and administrative matters, including proposed administrative policies, procedures, regulations, and agency publications.
- Analyze factual and legal issues to determine the necessity of further information and the best methods to obtain it.
- Deliver oral presentations at copyright programs, meetings, and hearings, demonstrating broad knowledge of legal issues and current copyright and intellectual property concerns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
- Applicants must possess an . or ., or higher degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association or a state-accredited school of law.
- Must be an active member in good standing of the bar of a state, the District of Columbia, a territory of the United States, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
- Must maintain active membership in good standing of the bar throughout employment.
- Applicants must have progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position with minimal supervision.

Salary Information:
- The salary range is $120,579 - $185,234 per year.
- Pay scale & grade: GS 13 - 14
- The salary reflects locality pay adjustments for the Washington, ., Metropolitan area.

Additional Information:
- This is an open continuous posting, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
- The position is located in the Office of the General Counsel in the . Copyright Office.
- The incumbent will work a flextime work schedule.
- This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.
- Relocation expenses will not be authorized.
- The position is full-time with telework eligibility as determined by agency policy.
