Job Title: Attorney-Advisor (General)

Job Responsibilities:
The Attorney-Advisor position is located within the Office of General Counsel in the . Copyright Office, part of **Members Only**. This role involves performing authoritative and thorough legal research, providing legal advice on copyright law to internal staff, and preparing materials for regulatory proceedings and policy work. Key responsibilities include:

- Conducting comprehensive legal research in complex areas of . copyright law and related international jurisprudence.
- Preparing detailed written arguments, briefs, studies, and analytical documents concerning the history, development, interpretation, and implementation of national copyright policies.
- Consulting with the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, or senior staff to prepare regulations, memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Researching legal precedents and statutes to offer opinions on proposed policy and regulatory changes.
- Preparing descriptive and background reports, surveys, and comparisons of laws for use by the Copyright Office, Congress members, and other federal officials.
- Evaluating the legality and impact of proposed administrative policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Delivering oral presentations at copyright programs, meetings, and hearings, using broad knowledge of legal issues and current copyright concerns.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
Applicants must possess an . or . degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association or a state-accredited school of law. Additionally, they must be an active member in good standing of the bar of a state, the District of Columbia, a . territory, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Candidates are required to maintain active membership in good standing of the bar throughout their employment.

Applicants should have progressively responsible experience and training that provide them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties without more than normal supervision. Key qualifications include:

- Knowledge of Copyright Law.
- Ability to Conduct Legal Research.
- Ability to Convey Legal Analysis and Information Orally through Briefings, Meetings, and Presentations.
- Ability to Work Collaboratively with Others.
- Ability to Write/Communicate in Writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.

Salary Information:
The salary for this position ranges from $120,579 to $185,234 per year, corresponding to pay scale GS 13 - 14, with locality pay adjustments for the Washington, ., Metropolitan area. This is a permanent, full-time position with a flexitime work schedule. Relocation expenses will not be authorized for this position.
