Job Title: Child Support Specialist I
Job Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and evaluate child support cases for appropriate establishment and/or enforcement actions.
- Prepare records of payment, legal pleadings, and correspondence.
- Update computer records, perform locate activities, and document case activity.
- Negotiate settlements and agreed orders.
- Mediate between parties and resolve issues relating to child support payments.
- Monitor and manage case log.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Candidates for the Child Support Specialist I position must meet one of the following criteria:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Have an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional child support enforcement, accounting, legal, or social work for each year of the required education.
- Complete an associate’s degree in Legal Assistance or a closely related program of paralegal education.
- Hold an associate’s degree in Public Service – Legal Case Management.
- Complete an American Bar Association-approved paralegal education program.
Salary Information
- Level I H30A: $36, plus full state employee benefits.
- Level II H30B: $39, plus full state employee benefits.
Additional Information
- The position is full-time and eligible for full state benefits.
- Job-related travel is occasional, and candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain required car insurance.
