Job Title: Mid-Level Corporate M&A Associate
Job Responsibilities:
The Mid-Level Corporate M&A Associate will be responsible for executing merger and acquisition transactions for both private and public companies. The role emphasizes drafting principal acquisition agreements and directly negotiating these agreements. Essential job expectations include effectively communicating with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties both verbally and in writing. The associate will need to produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence efficiently and responsively. They must provide timely, accurate, and quality work products and successfully meet deadlines and performance expectations. Additionally, the associate must foster positive work relationships, comply with all firm policies and practices, engage in both physical and sedentary activities such as working at a computer for extended periods, participating in digital/virtual conference calls, and attending meetings as needed. The ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Performing all other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned is also expected.
Education and Experience Information:
The candidate must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be licensed to practice in Illinois. They should have a minimum of 4 years of experience in M&A transactions with private and public companies, with a preference for candidates having 3-6 years of experience. Direct and applicable experience in an AmLaw 100 law firm is preferred. Candidates should have strong academic backgrounds from nationally recognized schools.

The ideal candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication abilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and good business judgment. They should possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively and independently. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, research and problem-solving skills, conceptual thinking, and ability to influence others are important. Persuasive communication and management skills are also desired.
Salary Information:
The expected hiring range for this position is $260,000 - $390,000 per year, depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. The compensation offered will also depend on other factors, including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. The firm offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance and a 401(k) plan.
Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements:
This position involves sedentary work, which includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally. The work environment is hybrid, with a regular in-office presence and some flexibility for work-from-home.
