Job Title: Legal Assistant - Family Law
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant in the Family Law department is responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the effective management and processing of family law cases. The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Managing discovery: Organizing, reviewing, and preparing discovery documents to ensure comprehensive and timely submission.
- Drafting legal documents: Assisting in the preparation of legal documents including pleadings, motions, and orders for attorney review.
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff: Serving as a point of contact for clients and other legal professionals, providing updates and collecting necessary information.
- E-filing with the court: Submitting documents electronically to the court system in accordance with legal protocols.
- Preparing exhibits and trial binders: Compiling evidence and documentation for use in court, ensuring all materials are complete and accessible.
- Assisting with general office duties: Performing tasks such as answering phones, managing calendars, and other administrative responsibilities to facilitate smooth office operations.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Legal Assistant position should have:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience assisting with family law cases. However, candidates with a strong work ethic or ambition, combined with some legal experience, are also encouraged to apply.
- Relevant legal education or certifications are advantageous but not specifically required.
Salary Information:
The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from to per hour, depending on the candidate's relevant experience. There is a possibility of a performance review 90 days after hire, which may influence salary adjustments.
Additional Information:
- Job Type: Full-time
- Expected hours: 40 per week
- Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5pm, and Friday from 8am to 1pm, allowing for an extended weekend.
- Work Location: In person
