Job Responsibilities
The Legal Assistant / Receptionist is a pivotal role within the law firm, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the office by blending traditional receptionist duties with essential legal support functions. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting attorneys in preparing, drafting, and proofreading legal documents, such as correspondence, pleadings, and discovery requests.
- Maintaining and organizing client files in both electronic and physical formats, ensuring all documents are properly filed and up to date.
- Preparing and filing legal documents with courts, government agencies, or other parties, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and deadlines.
- Conducting basic legal research and gathering information as needed for cases.
- Assisting in managing and tracking case timelines, deadlines, and court dates.
- Communicating with clients, witnesses, experts, and other legal professionals to obtain necessary information and documents.
- Preparing billing information and tracking time for client invoicing.
- Assisting with administrative tasks related to case management, including managing emails, calendars, and billing.

Education and Experience Information
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s degree or paralegal certification is preferred.

- Strong understanding of legal terminology, documents, and court procedures.
- Proficiency in case management software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Adobe PDF Editor.
