Job Title: Senior Billing Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Billing Analyst plays a crucial role in the global Finance function by ensuring robust financial control and acting as a valued commercial advisor within the law firm. The responsibilities include preparing and processing client bills accurately and timely, working closely with the Client Value Analyst and Executive Assistants to manage working capital. Key duties involve:
- Processing client bills, including uploading to the client’s e-billing system, ensuring compliance with client fee deals, local regulations, tax requirements, and internal billing policies.
- Editing bills based on instructions from partners, assistants, and client value while adhering to law firm operating procedures.
- Accurately processing time and cost transfers, write-offs, and write-downs with proper authorization.
- Maintaining a proper audit trail to ensure compliance with global and local billing standards.
- Proactively managing personal productivity to meet deadlines and ensure accuracy.
- Reviewing and analyzing compliance with client’s Outside Counsel Billing Guidelines.
- Addressing and resolving billing inquiries and discrepancies by working directly with attorneys and clients.
- Assisting in training new team members on billing processes.
- Providing coverage during the absence of other team members.
Education and Experience Information:
Essential qualifications for the Senior Billing Analyst role include:
- Confidence in working with numbers and the ability to reconcile accounts, demonstrating excellent numeracy skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Effective communication skills, particularly with partners, executive assistants, client value, and other colleagues.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the flexibility to adapt to short-notice demands.
- A results-focused approach, with the ability to meet deadlines, manage expectations, and effectively organize, prioritize, plan, and multi-task work activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service-like approach.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, while adapting to new assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience in a billing environment and knowledge of law firm billing systems such as Thompson Reuters Elite 3e.
- E-billing experience, with familiarity with E-billing Hub and multi-currency systems preferred.
Salary Information:
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York and California, the law firm provides a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for the Senior Billing Analyst role. This range is specific to these states and considers various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The current reasonable estimate of the salary range is $100,000 to $130,000.
