Job Title: Associate Counsel, California - REMOTE

Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Counsel at the company is responsible for defending lawsuits filed in California courts and handling other first-party insurance defense matters. Key duties include:
- Conducting legal research and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
- Providing opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
- Preparing and managing pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial and under oath.
- Defending assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing, where applicable.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor degree is required for this position.
- Candidates must have 2-6+ years of related field litigation experience, particularly in insurance defense or personal injury.
- Admission to the California Bar is mandatory, and candidates must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in California.
- The role requires meeting and maintaining licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.
- Candidates must be able to travel as needed for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.
- Strong written communication skills are essential to document files clearly and professionally.
- The ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, and possess strong organizational and multi-tasking skills is necessary.
- Preferred qualifications include civil litigation experience and insurance defense-related litigation experience.
- Professional communication skills in person, via telephone, and through written correspondence/email are required.

Salary Information:
The annual salary range for the Associate Counsel position is $118, to $186,. The final salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined by several factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, education, and training, the work location, and market and business considerations.
