Job Title: Legal Assistant - Workers' Compensation & Disability Law
Job Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will provide in-office administrative support to lawyers, assisting in managing and organizing their caseload from intake to closure. Key responsibilities include:
- E-filing documents and communicating with the North Carolina Industrial Commission.
- Organizing and preparing documents for administrative hearings.
- Requesting and organizing medical records and monitoring medical treatment.
- Assisting attorneys in e-filing legal documents.
- Coordinating appointments and meetings for attorneys.
- Communicating professionally with clients and coworkers using proper grammar and telephone etiquette.
- Performing general administrative tasks using Microsoft Office applications as well as a case management system.
- Serving as the daily point of contact for the law firm’s workers’ compensation clients.
- Noting the client’s file on all activities.
- Organizing files and assisting with the scheduling and preparation of cases for mediation.
- Assisting workers' compensation attorneys in contacting defense counsel and workers' compensation adjusters regarding medical treatment needed by clients, indemnity checks, medical mileage, and other client and case needs.
- Performing various other duties as assigned or as they relate to the client’s case.
- Demonstrating strong interpersonal communication and time-management/prioritization skills.
- Working well under pressure.
Education and Experience Information:
The candidate should possess a minimum of two years of law office experience. They should have proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro DC. Knowledge of document management and billing software such as TABS and/or Practice Master is a plus. The candidate is also required to have an understanding of NCIC and SCWCC state-specific forms and regulations. The role demands strong analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills, along with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow in the legal field. Fluency in English and Spanish is required. A valid North Carolina Notary Public license is preferred.
Salary Information:
The position offers a starting salary of $35,000 per year.

Schedule:
The role requires a full-time commitment with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday.
