Job Title: Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal will play a crucial role within the legal team at the organization, primarily focusing on commercial, revenue, and operational matters. The position involves several key responsibilities, including:
- Serving as paralegal support staff to the Legal Department.
- Maintaining an organized and up-to-date electronic and hard copy filing system for contracts, corporate records, and other corporate matters.
- Creating physical and electronic files, and efficiently searching and retrieving files as needed.
- Composing and preparing confidential correspondence, memos, contract summaries, reports, and presentations.
- Assembling and copying documents, preparing binders, and other materials for reference and/or presentations.
- Updating and maintaining contract forms, preparing initial drafts of contracts, revisions, and proofing of contracts, and tracking contract negotiation progress and status through the contract management system.
- Providing ongoing support of related legal documents under the supervision of an attorney.
- Running redlines, corresponding, and managing timing expectations with internal business partners and external parties regarding contract status.
- Confirming contacts comply with template standards and coordinating with department heads and the legal department regarding non-standard elements.
- Assisting with litigation files and managing the discovery process, including preparing and sending litigation hold memoranda to relevant staff, locating individuals with knowledge of the case, and conducting initial interviews with follow-up as necessary.
- Assisting with the maintenance of legal documents on organization websites and other employee and board-facing databases.
- Conducting light legal research and other special projects as requested by attorneys.
- Providing occasional administrative office support as needed.
While experience in these areas is preferred, the organization also values candidates with intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly to complement areas where they may not have extensive experience. Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- A college degree is required.
Expectations:
- A minimum of three years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant is preferred, especially in a large law firm and/or corporate in-house legal department.
- Strong grammatical skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in word processing and database management.
- Skilled in using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and experienced in preparing legal documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
- Experience with contract management systems is highly preferred.
- Ability to interact diplomatically and with professional maturity with senior executives, staff, and external business partners.
- A positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude is essential.
- Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, both autonomously and collaboratively.
- A high level of personal integrity and professional ethics; ability to maintain absolute confidentiality, perform duties with discretion, and act with complete integrity.
- Strong work ethic, client-service orientation, and sound judgment.
- Preference for local candidates.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- The role requires being in the office up to 4-5 days per week in an open office setting.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
- Proficiency in typing and using office equipment, including computers, printers, and phones.
Training/Certifications:
- Paralegal certification is preferred.
Salary Information:
The annual base salary range for this position is $68, - $78,. This pay scale represents the range that the organization reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with the organization’s operational business needs and applicable law.
