Director & Counsel, Privacy & Data Law - Job Description
As the Director & Counsel for Privacy & Data Law at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., you will have the opportunity to lead and make a significant impact in the organization. As part of the General Counsel's Organization (GCO), you will report to the Vice President & Senior Counsel, . Products & Services and be a member of the Privacy & Data Law Group (PDLG). This role will allow you to work remotely or in a hybrid model, giving you the flexibility to choose the work arrangement that best suits your needs and the company's business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide practical, timely, and strategic legal advice on . privacy and data matters across the organization
- Collaborate with business teams, compliance, and operational teams to provide day-to-day advice and serve as the primary lawyer on strategic initiatives
- Advise on data protection and privacy queries and guide new product launches and risk mitigation strategies
- Support digital advertising initiatives and negotiate with media companies on data use and disclosure issues
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to data protection and privacy
- Develop and maintain data privacy policies and guidance documents
- Support regulatory change management projects and provide legal support for training and awareness across the organization
Qualifications:
- Qualified to practice law in the .
- Minimum of 6+ years of relevant data protection and privacy experience
- Excellent knowledge of . privacy laws, including GLBA, CCPA, COPPA, CAN-SPAM, and FCRA
- Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Ability to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues and clients throughout the organization
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Solutions-oriented mindset and willingness to take on new responsibilities as the company evolves
- CIPP/US certification is preferred
- Prior experience in tech, fintech, or financial services is a plus
