Litigation Paralegal The candidate will monitor and case management of files, including tracking deadlines. Ability to move cases forward with little supervision. Analyze information obtained through research and investigation and make recommendations to attorneys regarding case strategy. Proofread, format, edit, and file pleadings. Draft answers. Process Summons and complaints. Process requests for discovery; organization, review, and analysis. Preparing and serving of discovery responses. Multi-task, prioritize assignments and manage multiple deadlines in all assigned cases. Set up conference calls when requested. Order deposition transcripts. Assistance in subpoena preparation and subsequent follow-up for responsive docs. Communicate with the court to secure hearing dates and draft and file Notes for Hearing. Assist attorneys with exhibits, documents, and file preparation for deposition, arbitration, and trial exhibits. Prepare notebooks needed for hearing or trial. Should have 3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal and a desire to work on complex litigation involving multiple parties. Paralegal certificate required. College degree preferred. Experience with preparing and filing pleadings, managing discovery, and trial preparation in state and/or federal court is required. Must be skilled and comfortable with technology. Should be verbal and written communication with clients, witnesses, etc. Familiarity with Oregon and Washington local rules and procedural law is required. Should have strong verbal and written communication skills and command of proper grammar; strong computer skills. Should be highly proficient with the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. High level of professionalism, responsibility, and confidentiality; type 50+ wpm. Should have the ability to manage a high volume of email communication. Internet savvy with an ability to use the Web as a research tool. Familiarity with legal case management databases, including experience working with PcLaw legal management software, Clio legal document management software, or other legal software. Knowledge of legal research tools or websites is a plus. Attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills. Personable and reliable.
