The **Members Only** is seeking a Trial Preparation Assistant (TPA)/Paralegal to support the Special Victims Bureau. This position offers an opportunity to work on some of the most important, challenging, and emotionally charged cases in New York City. The TPA/Paralegal will work closely with prosecutors to prepare cases for trial, interview witnesses, and provide support in court and at crime scenes. The TPA/Paralegal will also have the opportunity to gain an insider's perspective on the operations and complexities of the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents and correspondence
- Obtain evidence and documentation from outside sources
- Maintain knowledge of QDA and other law enforcement computer applications
- Identify, locate, and communicate with witnesses
- Assist with coordination and preparation of travel arrangements for witnesses
- Conduct legal research and assist with preparing and filing motions and briefs
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scanning, and copying
- Testify in court as a witness if necessary

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous experience as a paralegal or in a similar capacity preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Preference given to candidates with language skills beyond English
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred
- Experience working with victims of trauma, children, and investigating/prosecuting child abuse, sexual assaults, and violence against the elderly preferred

In this role, the TPA/Paralegal will have the opportunity to draft legal documents and correspondence, obtain evidence and documentation from outside sources, and maintain knowledge of QDA and other law enforcement computer applications. They will also be responsible for identifying, locating, and communicating with witnesses, assisting with coordination and preparation of travel arrangements for witnesses, and conducting legal research. Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are required for this position.
