Job Title: E-Discovery Technology Project Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The E-Discovery Technology Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the entire lifecycle of cases within the Information Services Department at the law firm. This role involves developing and maintaining strategies for handling data from collection through to final review and production. The Project Manager is responsible for:
- Building, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex E-Discovery databases, while employing Early Case Assessment and/or Advanced Analytics as needed.
- Managing large collections of e-mails, images, and native files, and ensuring quality control of all work, including data from vendors and third parties.
- Providing application support and assisting legal teams throughout the E-Discovery process, including training attorneys and paralegals on relevant software.
- Handling document production activities, including oversight of data burning onto electronic media and maintaining Chain of Custody.
- Communicating effectively with legal teams and vendors, and collaborating with other department personnel as needed.
- Managing case activity involving Electronic Discovery, case data management, document retention, production of data, and resource utilization.
- Developing strategies for efficient handling of discovery and production data, and tracking case-related activities using project management tools.
- Providing advice on data collection, preservation, processing, production, and retention, and attending Rule 26(f) discovery planning conferences.
- Overseeing work performed by Specialists and Analysts, and providing hands-on processing of various data collections.
- Maintaining server and folder structures, identifying and archiving old case data, and participating in document production processing.
- Performing quality control checks on data and load files, providing training and application support, and maintaining tracking logs for data received.
- Assisting with trial support, acting as a liaison with trial presentation vendors, and providing written and verbal advice to legal teams and vendors.
- Testing existing and new software, participating in vendor demonstrations, and recording time worked daily.
- Pursuing additional education and training in relevant E-Discovery Technology topics and maintaining confidentiality of all matters.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a senior-level E-Discovery Technology or Litigation Support role is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant E-Discovery Technology or Litigation Support experience is required, preferably within a law firm, although vendor experience is also considered.
- A strong appreciation of law firm culture and legal team demands is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) certification is highly desirable.
- Understanding of the full EDRM lifecycle and E-Discovery Technology best practices is required.
- Considerable hands-on experience with E-Discovery Technology processing software, review platforms, load file creation, and project management software is needed.
- Strong hands-on experience with tools such as kCura Relativity, Nuix, LexisNexis Concordance, LAW PreDiscovery, Thomson Reuters West Case Notebook, Sanction or Trial Director, and Microsoft Office is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to train individuals and small groups.
- The Project Manager should possess experience with advanced technologies such as Early Case Assessment, Advanced Analytics, Predictive Coding, and Concept Clustering.
- A deep understanding of database searchability, OCR and extracted text, near native review, e-mail threading, and imaging technologies is anticipated.

The salary range for the E-Discovery Technology Project Manager position applies to locations such as Atlantic City, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Morristown, New York, Princeton, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, . The salary range reflects various factors considered in compensation decisions, including experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market demands, and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $135,000 to $155,000.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The job operates in a clerical, office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The role involves sedentary work, primarily sitting, with occasional walking and standing. Close visual acuity is required for data analysis, transcribing, and computer terminal work.
