Intellectual Property Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Intellectual Property Assistant is responsible for providing essential administrative and legal support in the realm of patent and trademark prosecution. The role involves a combination of billable and non-billable tasks that require close collaboration with attorneys, staff, and clients within the IP Operations team. Specific duties include:
Billable Tasks:
- Preparing and filing . and PCT applications, office action responses, and related prosecution documents.
- Filing WIPO applications and formal documents.
- Reviewing and reporting on communications from the USPTO and WIPO.
- Preparing trademark renewals.
- Participating in patent filing quality control processes.
- Maintaining electronic records and logging billable time.
- Providing coverage during team absences.
Non-Billable Tasks:
- Assisting with billing and docket reporting.
- Supporting general IP operations and administrative tasks as necessary.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in . IP prosecution is preferred.
- Legal or administrative support experience is also preferred.
- A high school diploma is required, with an Associate or Bachelor’s degree being preferred.
- Candidates should have a strong command of Microsoft Office and USPTO platforms, such as EFS-Web, PAIR, and TEAS.
- Familiarity with IP docketing systems is considered a plus.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Intellectual Property Assistant position typically falls between $60,000 and $90,000 annually, depending on experience and certifications. Candidates with pay expectations outside this range are still encouraged to apply. Bonuses may be awarded based on individual and firm performance.
