Summary:

GEICO is seeking an experienced Associate Counsel to join their team in Austin, TX. The role involves defending lawsuits filed in Texas courts and other first party insurance defense. The ideal candidate will have 2-6+ years of litigation experience in insurance, defense, and/or personal injury, as well as a Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Texas Bar. This is a full-time, remote position with the ability to commute to the office as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

- Conduct legal research and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Provide opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
- Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial
- Defend matters assigned by trial or dispositive hearing as applicable

Qualifications:

- 2-6+ years of litigation experience in insurance, defense, and/or personal injury
- Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Texas Bar
- Must be able to travel as needed for trials, hearings, and meetings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn and apply technical and procedural information
- Experience in civil litigation and insurance defense is preferred

Salary Information:

- Annual salary range of $104, - $185,
- Final salary will be determined based on various factors, including experience, education, and location
