Job Title: Assistant Corporation Counsel, Labor and Employment Law

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Labor and Employment Law Division is tasked with defending the City in complex state and federal actions related to its role as an employer. Key responsibilities include:

- Handling litigation matters involving First Amendment retaliation, and discrimination based on gender, race, age, and disability.
- Addressing civil service law issues and engaging in wage and hour litigation.
- Preparing legal documents, managing case files, and representing the City in court proceedings.
- Collaborating with other attorneys and legal staff within the department to strategize and execute defense plans.
- Participating in orientation and training programs to enhance legal skills and knowledge pertinent to labor and employment law.
- Engaging in a Citywide pilot program that allows for remote work on a limited basis, requiring coordination with the division to ensure adequate coverage.

Education and Experience Information:
Applicants for the Assistant Corporation Counsel position must meet the following criteria:

- Possess a minimum of five years of legal experience following graduation from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Be admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
- Be admitted or eligible for immediate admission to the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and the Eastern District of New York (EDNY).
- Preference is given to candidates with a background in labor and employment law, especially those with experience in civil litigation contexts.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the Assistant Corporation Counsel position is between $108, and $175, annually.
