Job Responsibilities
The Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal is responsible for supporting attorneys in all facets of . and international patent prosecution. The duties associated with this role include:
- Preparing and filing . and PCT patent applications and related prosecution documents with the USPTO.
- Monitoring and managing patent dockets to ensure deadlines are met, and following up as necessary with attorneys and clients.
- Drafting and revising legal documents, including Information Disclosure Statements (IDSs), assignments, declarations, and reporting letters.
- Performing preliminary review of Office Actions and preparing appropriate documentation for attorney review.
- Maintaining accurate and organized client files using the law firm’s document management system.
- Corresponding with clients, foreign associates, and government agencies regarding patent matters.
- Coordinating file transfers, conflict checks, client intake, and file closings.
- Supporting attorneys in preparing reports and updates related to client IP portfolios.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of current USPTO and PCT rules and procedures.
- Meeting monthly billable-hour targets by accurately recording time entries.
Education and Experience Information
A paralegal certificate is preferred for this position.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and docketing systems.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
