Assistant District Attorney The candidate will reduce recidivism and promote community safety by matching appropriate defendants with evidence-based programming to address substance use and mental health disorders, housing instability, workforce development, and other areas of need. Assist the Pathways to Public Safety Division on all aspects of executing District Attorney Bragg’s mission to provide expanded opportunities for non-carceral outcomes. Investigate defendants’ criminal and social histories -- through meetings and the review of records -- to determine program eligibility and overall suitability for treatment. Will advise Trial Division Assistants on programming options and plea requirements, staff all felony and misdemeanor specialized courts, and monitor participants’ compliance with treatment court mandates. Maintain a caseload of diversion/ATI cases. Perform legal research and writing, draft motions and memoranda. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with treatment and community-based providers. Monitor cases referred for non-carceral outcomes. Work with Trial Division and all court parties to proactively identify cases for diversion and Restorative Justice options. Attend and represent the Division internally and externally at meetings with various organizations and agencies. Other related duties as assigned. Should have 5+ years of experience.
