Job Title:
- Litigation Assistant

Experience Information:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Paralegal certificates or 5+ years of applicable legal experience
- Experience in and/or commitment to advocacy on behalf of low-income people strongly desired
- Some knowledge of New York criminal law and procedures desirable

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage and organize case materials using data management platform
- Create spreadsheets and logs to aid in managing and organizing digital files
- Organize and analyze discovery from prosecutors and provide analysis to attorneys
- Understand New York State discovery laws and assist attorneys in compliance
- Provide insight and assistance in litigation and/or mitigation strategy
- Assist with legal research and drafting documents
- Liaison between attorneys, clients, and other parties
- Ensure cases are trial ready by coordinating witnesses and assisting with preparation
- Oversee retaining and payment of expert witnesses
- Assist attorneys in hearing and trial preparation
- Accompany attorneys to court and provide litigation support
- Update case management system
- Perform functions as a Paralegal 2 on a temporary basis when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
