As our Labor and Employment Law Associate Attorney, you will play a crucial role in providing legal advice and guidance on a variety of employment law matters. With a focus on the public or educational sector, we are looking for a candidate with 5-7 years of relevant experience and a strong background in employment law. If you have a passion for helping clients navigate complex legal issues and a desire to grow your practice, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice and guidance on employment law matters, including hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour issues.
Handle employee disciplinary matters, labor grievances, and arbitrations, as well as collective bargaining negotiations.
Represent clients before administrative tribunals such as the Public Employment Relations Board, Office of Civil Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and New York State Division of Human Rights.
Manage employment-related litigation from discovery through trial, including drafting discovery motions, motions to dismiss, and summary judgment motions.
Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures.
Provide legal advice on education-related matters, including special education services and impartial hearings.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other legal teams, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Stay informed about developments in employment law and advise on potential impacts to the organization.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association.
5-7 years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on the public or educational sector preferred.
State and federal court litigation experience.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
