ArentFox Schiff LLP, a leading international law firm, is seeking a Senior Paralegal Specialist to join our Trusts & Estates group in Washington, DC. As a Senior Paralegal Specialist, you will have a minimum of 10 years of experience and be responsible for all aspects of estate planning and trust administration in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. You will work closely with our Paralegal Manager and have the opportunity to supervise other paralegals in the department. Key Responsibilities: - Preparation of estate tax returns, gift tax returns, and fiduciary income tax returns - Maintaining books and records for estates and trusts - Coordination and management of post-death administration of trusts and estates - Preparation of fiduciary accountings and annual trust accounting - Coordinating asset valuations and verifying bank balances - Preparing schedules for asset distribution and trust funding - Determining necessary documentation for the sale or transfer of assets - Obtaining federal and state tax clearance for release of tax liabilities - Coordinating transfer of assets into trusts - Preparation of financial and computation spreadsheets Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or 18+ years of experience in lieu of degree - Strong knowledge of fiduciary income tax principles - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook - Experience with tax preparation programs such as Wolters Kluwer GEMS and CCH Axcess - Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision - Strong team-oriented and proactive approach to work ArentFox Schiff LLP offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans.
