Private Wealth Paralegal - Chicago, IL

Katten is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Private Wealth Paralegal to join our team in Chicago. In this role, you will be responsible for providing paralegal support and assistance to attorneys in the management, coordination, and administration of all aspects of trusts and estates in probate within established administrative procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Oversee all aspects of trusts and estates in probate.
- Prepare and file probate documents to open and/or close estates.
- Collect and distribute assets by contacting banks, brokerage houses, and appraisers.
- Coordinate asset transfers and funding of trusts.
- Maintain and report beneficial ownership information in compliance with firm policy.
- Prepare for federal audit.
- Research and investigate requests and resolve issues.
- Prepare initial drafts of client correspondence and memos.
- Maintain up-to-date time reports for accurate client billing.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree and five or more years of progressive trust administration experience.
- Legal research knowledge and ability to use law library.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program is a plus.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Westlaw and trust-related databases.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions within scope of responsibilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Availability to occasionally work more than hours per week.
- Ability to travel to other firm locations when necessary.
