Are you a Patent Engineer or Agent with experience in video encoding and processing? Do you want to work for a reputable and respected law firm? Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Patent Engineer or Agent to join our Intellectual Property Practice Group. This position can be based out of our Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Denver, Raleigh, or Salt Lake City office.

Job Description:

As a Patent Engineer or Agent at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, you will be responsible for patent drafting and prosecution related to video encoding and processing. You will also have the opportunity to work on virtual/augmented reality and AI projects. Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, and a minimum of 2 years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house.

Job Requirements:

- 2+ years of patent prosecution experience at a firm or in-house, with portfolio management experience
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- Strong knowledge and experience in video processing and codecs, as well as familiarity with video coding standards
- Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus
- Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
- Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus
- Admission to the USPTO is a plus

Salary Information:

For Colorado applicants only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act): The starting salary for Patent Engineers and Agents in our Denver office is $90,000. Pay is determined based on experience and qualifications, and employees are eligible for our ESA bonus program. This position is considered full-time and eligible for employer-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as a 401k plan.
