The salary for this position is $200,000 per year. The salary for this position is set by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between ALPA and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) and is subject to annual reviews and increases.






The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is seeking a Sr. Benefits Attorney with 15+ years of experience in employee benefits practice. This position offers a competitive salary of $200,000 per year, with annual reviews and potential for increases. The Sr. Benefits Attorney will be responsible for providing legal support to pilot groups on benefit matters, negotiating retirement, healthcare, and welfare benefits, and drafting language for collective bargaining agreements and other agreements with employers. They will also review and analyze pilot retirement, healthcare, and welfare benefit plans for compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable law, and make recommendations with respect to agreements between ALPA and its insurers, brokers, and other service providers.

This role requires a Juris Doctor (JD) from an approved school of law and membership in good standing of the Bar. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of legal experience in employee benefits practice, with comprehensive knowledge of ERISA and the benefits sections of the Internal Revenue Code. In-depth knowledge of the design and operation of retirement, healthcare, and welfare benefits is also required.

The Sr. Benefits Attorney must possess superior legal and analytical skills, with the ability to select the most effective and practical solution to complex benefit issues. They should also have excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Strong interpersonal skills are a must, as this role will involve advising senior management and key pilot groups.

Travel, both locally and nationally, will be required for this position, up to 35% of the time. The successful candidate must also be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
