This position offers a competitive salary range of $39840 - $53230 per year and a range of responsibilities and activities that go beyond traditional paralegal duties. Responsibilities: - Conduct eligibility and substantive interviews in person and by telephone - Manage the Project hotline, voicemail, and email communications - Provide basic information and referrals to applicants - Provide youth-appropriate mentoring and guidance - Interview clients and witnesses - Conduct follow-up of assigned cases, including investigating facts and researching law - Prepare legal documents and other necessary documents - Assist with outreach activities and workshops for foster youth - Represent the Project in meetings, workgroups, trainings, and other activities - Post updated and new materials on the Project’s web page - Oversee updates to the Project’s “Aging Out Guide” - Process requests for “Aging Out Guide” and brochures - Assist attorney in processing youths’ requests for CPS records, foster youth benefits, identification documents, and other materials - Develop forms and letters for case handling - Attend and participate in community group meetings and educational forums - Accompany clients and/or project staff to court, social service providers, public agencies, and CPS proceedings and meetings - Prepare legal educational and outreach materials - Maintain accurate and complete client files and administrative records - Prepare administrative reports required by TRLA - Translate (if bilingual) - Notarize legal documents - Serve process and subpoenas - Any other duties required by the branch or team manager Qualifications: - Experience working with youth between the ages of 15-22 - Strong interest in working with youth population - Good verbal, reading, and writing skills - Computer skills, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - required - Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and a self-starter - Valid driver’s license and ability to travel - Preference given to alumnus of foster care Organization: Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) Department: Foster Youth Justice Project Salary: $39840 - $53230 per year Experience: Experience working with youth between the ages of 15-22 preferred TRLA is an Equal Opportunity Employer: At TRLA, we are committed to offering fair and equal employment opportunities to all job applicants and employees.
