In this role, the Legal Secretary will provide complex and specialized secretarial and clerical support to the assigned attorney(s). The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including drafting and finalizing legal documents, coordinating with clients and opposing parties, managing trial preparation and support, and maintaining attorney files. This is a full-time position with a competitive compensation and benefits package, including a base salary range of $85,000 - $100,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities

As a Legal Secretary in our Litigation department, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Drafting, revising, and finalizing correspondence, pleadings, court forms, memoranda, and redline comparisons
• Conducting conflicts checks, opening new client matters, and obtaining conflicts waivers if necessary
• Drafting and serving discovery documents
• Coordinating with clients and opposing parties through correspondence and email
• Assisting attorneys with arranging and preparing for depositions
• Supporting trial preparation and providing trial support
• Managing calendars and relevant dates
• Processing invoices, organizing files, and preparing expense reports
• Arranging travel, meetings, depositions, and remote court appearances
• Filing and serving pleadings in state, civil, complex federal, and appellate courts
• Maintaining and organizing physical and electronic attorney files
• Attending training sessions offered by the firm
• Producing documents and exhibits for client and court use
• Providing peer support to other team members

Education and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates should have the following qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
• 5-7 years of experience as a Legal Secretary in a law firm, with a focus on litigation

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Ability to work through complex document markups and instructions in a timely manner
• Strong multitasking skills and ability to manage and process work flow efficiently and accurately
• Extensive knowledge of Federal and State court electronic filing systems, ADR and JAMS mediation processes
• Familiarity with various court rules on the state and federal levels
• Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with clients, attorneys, co-workers, and management
• Minimum typing speed of 70 wpm
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook
• Familiarity with time entry software, such as iTimekeep
• Advanced proficiency in document management software, such as NetDocs
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure as part of a team
