Job Title: Paralegal A Youth Specialist
Organization: Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA)
Department: Foster Youth Justice Project

Salary: $39,840 - $53,230 per year

Introduction:
Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) is currently seeking a Paralegal A Youth Specialist for their Foster Youth Justice Project. This position involves working with youth between the ages of 15-22 and providing them with legal assistance and guidance. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team and make a positive impact in the lives of foster youth.

Responsibilities:
The Paralegal A Youth Specialist will be responsible for the following duties and activities:

- Conducting eligibility and substantive interviews in person and by telephone
- Managing the Project hotline, voicemail, and email communications
- Providing basic information and referrals to applicants
- Mentoring and guiding youth applicants and clients
- Interviewing clients and witnesses
- Conducting follow-up on assigned cases
- Preparing legal and other necessary documents
- Assisting with outreach activities, including workshops and trainings
- Representing the Project in meetings and activities with other organizations
- Updating and maintaining the Project's web page
- Overseeing updates to the Project's "Aging Out Guide" and publication process
- Processing requests for materials and documents
- Developing forms and letters for case handling
- Participating in community group meetings and educational forums
- Accompanying clients and/or project staff to court and other proceedings
- Translating (if bilingual)
- Notarizing legal documents
- Serving process and subpoenas
- Any other duties required by the branch or team manager

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- Experience working with youth between the ages of 15-22
- Strong interest in working with youth population
- Excellent verbal, reading, and writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- College degree required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel
- Preference given to alumnus of foster care

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $39,840 - $53,230 per year. TRLA also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
