Responsibilities:

- Handle a heavy caseload before the Merit Systems Protection Board and Administrative Law Judges.
- Provide advice to internal clients on employee discipline, USERRA, Wounded Warrior Leave, and other military-related matters.
- Conduct MSPB and USERRA training and representation for clients at all levels of the Postal Service nationwide.
- Prepare pretrial briefs, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents with little to no direct supervision.
- Participate in necessary conferences, advise postal management officials, and represent the Postal Service in legal matters.
- Prepare replies to inquiries from Congress, government agencies, and the public.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written material for use in representing the Postal Service.
- Provide opinions, memoranda, decisions, regulations, testimonies, or formal filings in proceedings where the Postal Service is a party.

Requirements:

- Must be a . citizen or have permanent resident alien status.
- Must possess a Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
- Must be a current member in good standing of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Bar Association.
- Must have at least three years of experience in legal practice, with one year of experience in employment law specifically.
- Experience must include litigation before administrative agencies or federal courts, or advising senior clients in large organizations on complex employment law issues.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Current career Postal Service employees are ineligible to apply.
