Role Overview

As a Litigation Assistant, you will work closely with a lead attorney and litigation paralegal to provide administrative support and assist with all aspects of case management. This is a fast-paced and dynamic role that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have experience in personal injury or other injury-related practice areas, as well as a background in administrative assistance in a law firm or corporate legal department.

Responsibilities

- Schedule and manage calendar hearings and deadlines
- Organize case files and maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
- Prepare and organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
- Improve and implement administrative processes for more efficient workflow
- Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
- Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts
- Conduct research on regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with case preparation and legal advice
- Manage client billing and resolve billing issues in cooperation with the billing attorney
- Communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions
- Organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems
- Provide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney’s calendar and making travel arrangements

Requirements

- High school diploma or GED
- Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Bachelor’s Degree, or a Paralegal Certificate (preferred)
- At least 2 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department
- Experience in Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Premises, First Party or other injury related practice areas (preferred)
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good presentation skills
