Job Title: IP/Patent Paralegal Specialist
Location: Remote, with occasional in-person meetings in Palo Alto, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, or Phoenix

Law Firm: DLA Piper

Department: Paralegal Team

Salary:
- Expected pay range for Los Angeles, San Diego, or Seattle location: - per hour
- Expected pay range for Palo Alto or San Francisco location: - per hour
- Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws

Experience:
- Paralegal Certificate
- 10 years as a Patent Paralegal
- Large firm experience preferred

Responsibilities:
- Support staff, attorneys, clients, and outside vendors
- Review and manage daily docket reports
- Draft various documents, such as foreign filing/conversion reminder letters and PCT applications
- Obtain national phase patent filing and translation estimates
- Serve as liaison between clients, inventors, outside counsel, and foreign associates
- Assist in research of chain of title, patent prosecution history, and patent family relationships
- Comply with all firm policies and practices
- Engage in both physical and sedentary activity
- Meet deadlines and expectations
- Foster positive work relationships
- Embrace and uphold firm values

Requirements:
- Paralegal Certificate
- 10 years as a Patent Paralegal
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Knowledge of patent prosecution life cycle, domestic patent applications, and prior art
- Ability to prepare foreign and domestic Powers and Attorneys and Assignments
- Ability to conduct patent searches
- Knowledge of Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Fluent knowledge of PCT rules and requirements
- Experience with national/regional phase entry of PCT applications and related formalities
- Experience with non-substantive official actions in foreign jurisdictions
- Experience with direct foreign filings
- Experience with changes related to formalities
- Familiarity with various filing platforms and databases
- Large firm experience preferred
