Law Firm Seeking Experienced Litigation Paralegal in Austin, TX

Responsibilities Include Drafting Legal Documents and Assisting with Trial Preparation

Law Firm Background

- Established in 1970 in Amarillo, TX
- Provides collection services and legal representation to government entities
- Represents school districts, cities, counties, and other governmental entities
- Currently has 15 primary offices in Texas and multiple satellite locations in TX, OK, and FL
- Servicing clients in 9 states

About the Position

- Full-time Litigation Paralegal position
- Located in the central Austin office
- Minimum 4 years of litigation experience required
- Strong communication skills and understanding of civil court system necessary
- Focus on representing appraisal districts in value litigation cases

Qualifications

- Minimum 4 years of experience
- Ideally holds a degree in paralegal studies and a paralegal certificate
- Will consider significant paralegal experience in lieu of qualifications
- Experience with high-volume practice a plus

Responsibilities

- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, and written discovery
- Communicate and assist clients and attorneys with responses to written discovery, document production, and trial preparation
- Review incoming mail and calendar events and deadlines
- Efficiently manage a large docket
- Perform administrative duties related to cases
- Prepare cases for trial, including exhibit preparation, electronic exhibit knowledge, and trial notebook and jury charge preparation

Qualities Needed

- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, professional environment
- Highly organized and possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
- Efficient and accurate with detailed work
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Clio or similar billing system
- Positive attitude and team player mindset
