Litigation Legal Assistant The candidate creates, formats and proofreads legal documents, such as agreements, briefs and other pleadings for spelling, grammar and layout. Files electronic documents with the court. Types and designs general correspondence, memos, charts, tables, graphs, etc.. Drafts written responses or replies by phone or email when necessary. Responds to regularly occurring requests for information. Mails, faxes and/or arranges for delivery of legal correspondence and legal filings to clients, court officials and other governmental agencies. Organizes, indexes and maintain documents, pleadings, correspondence and other materials in legal files. Schedule meetings or conference calls electronically using Outlook calendaring; experience with Teams and Zoom a plus. Assists attorneys in collecting records and other information and retrieves information from files as needed. Notifies the correct department for things, such as check requests and new client/matter files. Transcribes dictation. Accurately enter attorney timesheets. Attend meetings as scheduled. Take messages or fields/answers all routine and non-routine questions. Works in cooperation with other Legal Assistants to provide phone coverage for Receptionist breaks or time off. Backups and covers for other Legal Assistants as necessary. Works independently and within a team on special non-recurring and on-going projects. Generates revenue by documenting and inputting attorney billable time and reimbursable expenses, preparing invoices and tracking payments. High school graduate or equivalent degree is required. Business or paralegal studies is a plus. Should have 3+ years of continuous litigation experience. Should preferably have 5+ years of continuous litigation experience. Experience with SurePoint is a plus. Typing skills of 65+ WPM is required.
