Overview

Foley & Lardner, a leading law firm, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Paralegals to join our team. This role will oversee the firm's paraprofessional program across all three law departments and will be responsible for driving strategic direction, managing recruitment and training, and ensuring superior client support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal and/or paraprofessional experience, with at least five years of managerial experience.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain a firmwide paraprofessional program, focusing on providing excellent client support and improving overall operations.
- Analyze and recommend changes to existing paraprofessional programs and staffing structures.
- Implement strategic and innovative approaches to process improvement.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to establish hiring criteria and development frameworks.
- Support the professional development of paraprofessionals through onboarding, training, and knowledge management resources.
- Proactively address attorney and client support needs and create workflow coverage plans.
- Monitor utilization and realization of paraprofessionals and adjust resources as needed.
- Collaborate with legal departments and accounting & finance on paraprofessional billing rates.
- Prepare and oversee budgeting for the paraprofessional program.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal and/or paraprofessional experience, with at least 5 years of managerial experience.
- Experience working with paraprofessionals in multiple practice areas preferred.
