  2. Position Summary:
    1. The Legal Assistant will perform a variety of administrative duties for attorneys to whom assigned according to established policies and procedures. The Legal Assistant will support multiple attorneys functioning in a team capacity. This position will be responsible for preparing practice-specific forms, updating electronic and paper files, preparing and filing court documents and e-filings, updating attorney calendars as needed, arranging travel and completing other tasks as assigned in a timely and accurate manner.
  3. Essential Functions:
    1. Write basic correspondence pertinent to cases.
    2. Prepare practice-specific documents, paper court filings and e-filings, and update electronic pleading/correspondence/closing folders.
    3. Screen telephone calls and take messages for attorneys when requested. Receive clients and visitors. Maintain high standards of professionalism and excellence in all client interactions and communications.
    4. Perform intake calls re potential cases
    5. Read, sort and date incoming mail when requested. Ensure that outgoing mail is delivered timely and specify types of delivery.
    6. Schedule and calendar meetings and deadlines for attorneys. Calendar court docket and case updates in eDockets (calendaring system).
    7. Assist other legal assistants and attorneys in the practice group team as time permits
    8. Open new files, request conflict of interest checks, maintain client and general files, conduct periodic review of possible storage of older files, and prepare files to be closed.
  4. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
    1. Familiarity with CLIO Manage and CLIO Grow
    2. Excellent spelling and proofreading skills.
    3. Ability to type 45+ wpm
    4. Intermediate MS Word skills.
    5. Expert knowledge of state AND federal court filing procedures, including electronic filing
    6. Ability to organize, prioritize and produce quality work
    7. Self-motivated and flexible in order to complete assignments in a timely manner
  5. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Desired:
    1. CLIO Manage and Clio Grow
    2. MS Excel
    3. PDF conversions and manipulations
  6. Education and Experience:
    1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
    2. 5-7 years of experience in similar field required.
