Kilpatrick Townsend, a large international law firm, is seeking a Patent Specialist to join our Intellectual Property Department in one of our offices in Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Houston, Dallas, or Denver. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package. As a Patent Specialist at Kilpatrick, you will be a key member of our team, providing high-level support to both internal and external clients. You will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the timely and accurate processing of US patent prosecution and patent matters. Job Title: Patent Specialist Job Category: Patent Job Description: As a Patent Specialist at Kilpatrick, you will be responsible for the following essential job functions: • Providing support for all phases of US patent prosecution, including preparing, reviewing, and filing US and PCT patent applications and responses. • Drafting correspondence to clients regarding the status of patent applications and patent matters. • Reporting USPTO and PCT correspondence and notifications, such as publications, recordation of assignments, office actions, and more. • Managing client portfolios, including preparing and maintaining client status reports and acting as a single point of contact for clients. • Reviewing, organizing, and filing documents and emails in the firm's document management system. • Completing special projects as assigned. • Performing a variety of patent-related administrative tasks, including client services and maintaining accurate time records for billing purposes. Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements: • Minimum of two years' experience as a patent prosecution paralegal, legal secretary, or in a comparable position in a law firm or in-house legal environment. • Experience with electronic filing procedures at the USPTO. • Excellent knowledge of USPTO and PCT rules and procedures. • High level of proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other internet research tools. • Good working knowledge of timekeeping software and document management systems. • Excellent client service skills and the ability to collaborate with others. • Ability to compose routine correspondence and prioritize tasks. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Ability to maintain confidentiality. • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. • Strong work ethic and positive attitude. • Willingness to adapt to change.
