This role will be responsible for independently performing conflicts of interest checks and coordinating with Conflicts Attorneys to ensure due diligence is performed on assigned files. The ideal candidate will have a four-year college degree and preferably a ., as well as experience in a law firm setting. Job Title: New Business Legal Conflicts Professional Experience Information: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in research, paralegal, or project assistance, preferably in a law firm setting. A graduate degree may be considered in lieu of job experience. Job Description: The New Business Legal Conflicts Professional will be responsible for conducting thorough and complete conflicts of interest searches for new clients, supplemental requests, pre-clearance requests, new hires, and business development projects. This includes organizing and tracking incoming requests, reviewing requests for accuracy, analyzing conflicts reports, and communicating conflicts information to relevant parties. The professional will also maintain assigned "Hold" files, draft waiver and engagement letters, and provide additional research using third-party business resources. Responsibilities include: • Independently performing conflicts of interest checks and coordinating with Conflicts Attorneys to ensure due diligence is performed on assigned files • Conducting thorough and complete conflicts of interest searches for new clients, supplemental requests, pre-clearance requests, new hires, and business development projects • Organizing, prioritizing, and tracking incoming requests and status, and coordinating information with other conflicts team members, Legal Talent, and other recruiting staff as needed • Reviewing requests for accuracy and ensuring work product completeness, following up with lawyers as necessary • Analyzing conflicts reports and flagging potential conflicts for additional review • Communicating and disseminating conflicts information to relevant parties • Maintaining assigned "Hold" files, following up within established timeframes to handle due diligence and ensure files are complete and up-to-date • Drafting waiver and engagement letters for clients, including lateral-specific consent letters • Providing additional research using third-party business resources for new clients and other assigned work as needed • Sharing weekend and holiday email and conflicts checking coverage with other conflicts team members on a rotating, calendared basis • Contributing to the Firm's Service Excellence initiative by displaying professionalism, quality service, and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm, as well as external clients and vendors Qualifications: • Four-year college degree, preferably with a . • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in research, paralegal, or project assistance, preferably in a law firm setting • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressure • Ability to use standard office software applications, including LegalKey, Elite, NBI, FileCD, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and Outlook • Proficiency using online research tools, such as Lexis, Westlaw, Dun & Bradstreet, and Hoovers • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present routine business information in established and error-free formats • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the Firm • Demonstrated ability to compile, review, and determine logical conclusions or recommendations based on data and information • Knowledge of business English, vocabulary, punctuation, grammar, and spelling • Ability to initiate, follow through, and complete time-sensitive projects with minimal supervision • Ability to apply research and computerized analysis techniques and methodologies to assigned projects This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by employees in this position.
