Trust & Estates Paralegal - Work with Clients and Attorneys in Law Firm Primary Duties and Responsibilities: - Work closely with clients, attorneys, and others in the Trust & Estates practice group - Responsible for all aspects of trust and probate administration - Meet with clients, trustees, and family members - Communicate with beneficiaries - Draft correspondence and legal documents - Prepare deeds, asset spreadsheets, and probate pleadings - Prepare federal estate tax returns and gift tax returns - Prepare fiduciary income tax returns for estates and trusts - Review annual trust accountings - Review bank and brokerage statements - Notarize documents - Organize and maintain client files Duties: - Research, draft, and file probate court documents - Compile information and draft federal and state estate tax returns - Compile information and draft federal gift tax returns - Handle collection and transfer of assets, payment of debts and administration expenses, and distribution of assets for probate estates and funded trusts - File wills in appropriate counties - Prepare deeds - Ensure timely filing of all tax returns and court papers - Prepare and send correspondence - Communicate with banks and other financial institutions - Prepare Guardianship/Conservatorship forms and assist with filings - Coordinate office services - Meet with clients and attorneys - Record time accurately for billing purposes Desired Skills and Experience: - College degree and paralegal certificate or equivalent - Minimum of 5 years' experience as a paralegal in a law firm or financial institution specializing in probate estate administration - Experience in preparation of probate court documents - Proficient in administration of probate estates and funded trusts - Experience in preparation of federal estate tax returns - Experience in preparation of federal gift tax returns preferred - Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and probate court e-filing software - Notary or willingness to become notary preferred Salary Information: - Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
