Law Firm Seeks Practice Support Team Specialist with Intellectual Property Experience

Position Summary:

Husch Blackwell LLP, a leading full-service litigation and business law firm, is seeking a Practice Support Team Specialist (Intellectual Property Legal Assistant) to join our team in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to attorneys within our Intellectual Property Practice Group and will be responsible for managing multiple projects and priorities, coordinating schedules, and assisting with accounting and billing tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate all workflow for assigned attorneys, including delegating tasks to other teams and ensuring follow-up and quality control.
- Prepare legal documents, transcribe and proofread accurately, and meet specific deadlines.
- Assist with coordinating timekeeper calendars and scheduling meetings and travel arrangements.
- Manage accounting administrative functions, such as client billing, matter budgets, and tracking alternative fee arrangements.
- Process new client/matter intake, including conflict checks and opening new files.
- Review and route incoming mail and fax communications, and prepare and process outgoing mail and faxes.
- Provide general administrative support, such as maintaining attorney contacts and tracking CLE and membership requirements.
- Work collaboratively in a team, demonstrating effective communication and actively participating in team meetings.
- Effectively use software to log and manage workflow.
- Show proficiency in intellectual property law, including e-filing, calendar coordination, document edits, and pleadings.
- Operate office equipment and handle demands from timekeepers in a calm and confidential manner.

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of legal experience, with a heavy focus on intellectual property.
- Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Previous transcription experience preferred.
