Law Firm Seeking Experienced Patent Specialist in Multiple Locations Are you an experienced patent specialist looking for a new opportunity? Kilpatrick Townsend, a large international law firm, is seeking a Patent Specialist to join our Intellectual Property Department in one of our five office locations: Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Houston, Dallas, or Denver. As part of our team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, you will play an integral role in providing high-level service to both internal and external clients. Key Responsibilities: As a Patent Specialist at Kilpatrick Townsend, you will: - Provide support on US patent prosecution and patent matters, with a focus on US and PCT filings, deadline management, and special projects. - Work closely with attorneys, patent specialists, paralegals, and clients to support US patent prosecution. - Prepare, review, and file US and PCT patent applications, responses, and issue fees, both electronically and on paper as necessary. - Draft correspondence to clients regarding the status of patent applications and patent matters. - Manage client portfolios, including preparing and maintaining status reports, charts, and various projects and tasks. - Monitor deadlines, communicate with appropriate parties, and ensure timely completion of related activities. - Review, organize, and file documents and emails in the firm's document management system. - Complete special projects as assigned. - Provide patent-related administrative support. - Assist with client services, such as preparing and processing reports and coordinating meetings. - Maintain accurate time records for client billing and statistical purposes. Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must have: - A minimum of two years of experience as a patent prosecution paralegal, legal secretary, or in a comparable position. - Experience with electronic filing procedures at the USPTO. - Excellent knowledge of USPTO and PCT rules and procedures. - High proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other internet research tools. - Good working knowledge of timekeeping software (InTapp), iManage, FoundationIP, and Claim Master. - Excellent client service skills. - The ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. - A strong work ethic, flexibility, dependability, and a positive attitude. - The ability to maintain confidentiality of client information. - The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure. - Effective written and oral communication skills. - A sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines. - The ability to work well with others and take on assignments as needed. - A willingness to adapt to change.
