Position Summary:

The Senior BIC Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring compliance with risk management policies related to engagement letters, conflict waivers, and ethical screens. They will use critical thinking and independent judgement to resolve issues while demonstrating a thorough understanding of business needs.

Position Responsibilities:

- Timely tracking and follow-up on the completion of New Business requests pending executed engagement letters and conflicts of interest waiver letters
- Drafting, setting up, and maintaining ethical walls in the Firm's ethical walls database
- Analyzing ethical walls associated with client and matter closure requests to determine appropriate action
- Resolving ethical wall issues (., switching sides)
- Reviewing client and matter closure requests associated with ethical walls to determine if the wall may come down or needs to remain active
- Analyzing, reviewing, and drafting database warnings and alerts
- Participating in proof-of-concept testing of new technologies or solutions
- Analyzing and processing client and matter name changes, including identifying existing or potential conflicts for each request by reviewing and analyzing conflict reports and supporting documents
- Resolving outstanding requests from departing and departed timekeepers and secretaries
- Assisting with the drafting and review of client-specific waiver templates, including corresponding with Responsible Partners re such templates
- Regularly interacting with partners - through email and telephone - to investigate and resolve potential issues and propose solutions in connection with requests
- Proposing solutions to complex issues that will promote the efficient and ethical acceptance of new business
- Drafting conflict waivers and engagement letters, as necessary
- Informing and advising firm attorneys and counsel of any special circumstances surrounding complicated forms
- Assisting, when needed, with all aspects of conflicts analysis
- Staying aware of current legal trends and information
- Conducting conflicts case law and legal ethics research
- Providing conflicts training for secretaries, practice team assistants, paralegals, attorneys, and other business professionals, as needed
- Assisting with department projects as necessary (., IntApp Terms Project)
- Performing all other duties as assigned or required

Skills and Experience:

Required:

- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other firm applications
- Proficiency in IntApp Open and Contract Express or similar programs
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department
- Non-senior level candidates must have 3+ years of progressive experience in a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department
- Knowledge of the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct and California State Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct
- Overall understanding of a corporate law practice
- Track record of performing elevated responsibilities, including a demonstrated proficiency in more complex analyst duties
- Experience conducting legal and corporate research

Preferred:

- Bachelor's degree or JD
- Knowledge and experience with complete conflicts resolution
- Paralegal Certificate or completion of an ethics course in a paralegal program
- Prior experience as a paralegal or legal researcher in a law firm

Salary and Benefits:

The expected annual pay range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000. Please note that the final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
