Law Firm is looking for a highly qualified Patent Prosecution Associate or Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group. The ideal candidate must have a mechanical engineering degree, USPTO membership, and IP experience with drafting and patent prosecution. Advanced degrees and/or work experience prior to law school is strongly preferred.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience as an associate or 5+ years of experience as a patent agent
• Mechanical engineering degree
• USPTO membership
• IP experience with drafting and patent prosecution
• Familiarity with machinery, mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems
• IP transactional experience
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Excellent academic credentials
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities
• Knowledge and experience with other forms of intellectual property protection (a plus)

Responsibilities include:

• Obtaining IP rights in the US and abroad
• All aspects of global portfolio strategy and management
• Working with a national/international client platform
• Demonstrating superior client service ability

This position is based in either Houston, TX or Atlanta, GA and offers competitive salary and benefits. If based in Houston, associates must be licensed to practice law in Texas or have the ability to become licensed as soon as possible. If based in Atlanta, associates must be licensed to practice law in Georgia.
