Legal Assistant - Job Description

Salary Information: per hour

Job Title: Legal Assistant

Experience: 2 years minimum

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

Key Role: Supporting the law firm's daily operations and providing administrative services to the legal team.

Responsibilities:

- Manage administrative duties such as scheduling hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Request medical records for hearings.
- Collect, examine, and organize evidence and legal documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Conduct research on regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist in report preparation and legal advice.
- Manage client billing by preparing, finalizing, and sending out bills and resolving billing issues with the billing attorney.
- Organize and maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associates degree in paralegal studies, paralegal certificate, or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an administrative assistant, legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Experience in Social Security, Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Premises Liability, or other injury related practice areas preferred.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in calendar hearings.
- Knowledge of legal procedures, practices, and court rules.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and type at least 35 words per minute.
