##Environmental Legal Assistant (Paralegal) Law firm Arnold & Porter is looking for a highly qualified Environmental Legal Assistant (Paralegal) to join their Practice Support Services Department. This position is available in the Los Angeles, New York or Washington, DC office. **Essential Responsibilities:** - Research and write summaries of new judicial, administrative, legislative, and regulatory developments - Work with Environment Practice Group attorneys to prepare and edit materials for business development projects - Assist attorneys in the Environmental Practice Group with the preparation of client alerts, presentations, articles, books, and book chapters - Track legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments - Arrange for case logistics, copy requests, and document organization - Research and monitor current and developing cases - Research case authorities and background material for attorney review - Provide attorneys with general organizational support and other administrative duties - Establish and maintain case files, document collections and chronologies - Conduct computer searches, research and case management functions on client databases or firm resources such as Trial Director, Opus 2 Magnum, Relativity, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, the Internet - Assist with assembly of exhibits and appendices for court papers, depositions, and trials - Organize paper and electronic documents for use in depositions or trials - Maintain indexes and organizing case files and workrooms - Index and organize files for off-site storage - Assist with document collection, review, and production - Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitrations as directed - File and obtain documents at various courts and agencies - Utilize legal research software - Conduct research using various resources including databases and the internet **Qualifications:** - Four-year college degree strongly preferred - Excellent academic record - Minimum of three years of legal assistant experience - Strong writing skills - Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a large workload efficiently and effectively - Highly detail-oriented with a strategic focus - Excellent oral communication skills - Exceptional interpersonal skills, a commitment to professionalism, integrity, and collegiality - Proven ability to multi-task and set priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment - Exceptional problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities and the ability to work well under pressure - Flexibility to work overtime as necessary, including nights, weekends, and travel, as necessary Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, school transcript and a short writing sample for consideration.
