Law Firm Seeking Experienced Legal Assistant for Ad Valorem Tax Group Job Summary: Stearns Weaver Miller, a prestigious law firm in Downtown Miami, is currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Ad Valorem Tax group. This is a full-time, on-site position with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a medium to large law firm. The ideal candidate will have experience in Commercial Litigation and property taxes, as well as knowledge of Ad Valorem law and state court procedures. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities: - Assist attorneys with day-to-day tasks and administrative functions - Format, edit, and proofread legal documents - Prepare packages for hearings and file legal documents with state courts - Maintain paper and electronic client files and internal Ad Valorem database - Manage attorneys' calendars and schedule appointments and deadlines - Perform conflict checks, open and close matters, and assist with business development - Ensure clients' billing requirements are met and review and edit pre-bills Qualifications: - Minimum of 5 years of experience as a legal assistant, with 3 years in Commercial Litigation and 2 years in property taxes - Knowledge of Ad Valorem law and state court procedures - Experience with e-filing and document management systems - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to work independently and in a team environment - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe, and Excel Stearns Weaver Miller is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in our workforce.
