The Litigation Docket Specialist (California and Asbestos-Specific Docketing) position at Husch Blackwell LLP is a full-time role with competitive compensation and benefits. This position may be filled remotely or in any of our locations across the United States.

The Litigation Docket Specialist is responsible for monitoring assigned shared mailboxes and related docket requests and docketing same in a timely manner according to firm guidelines and procedures utilizing the firm’s litigation docketing software. The Litigation Docket Specialist reports to the Litigation Docket Manager and will assist the Litigation Docket Manager as needed and directed in additional projects within the Docket Team.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong knowledge of California litigation and asbestos practice. The ideal candidate will also have experience with docketing software and be able to research and apply statutory, agency, and court rules and procedures for any jurisdiction. 3-5 years of litigation experience in various federal and state courts, including calculating and calendaring deadlines, is required for this role. A Paralegal Certificate or 4-year degree in a related field is preferred, but a combination of education and work experience will be considered.

- Monitor assigned shared mailboxes and docket requests in a timely manner
- Review and comprehend documents to identify and docket all deadlines
- Review court and agency dockets as needed
- Verify jurisdiction, court/venue, and relevant authorities
- Create, review, and distribute accurate matter reports
- Research and apply statutory, agency, court, and individual judges’ rules and practices
- Respond professionally to requests from timekeepers and staff regarding docketed dates and rules
- Collaborate with the Litigation Docket Manager to improve docketing practices
- Assist with special projects as needed
- Stay current with developments, procedures, and rules in courts and agencies

Requirements:

- 2-year degree or Paralegal Certificate; 4-year degree preferred
- 3-5 years of litigation docketing experience
- Strong knowledge of California litigation and asbestos practice
- Proficient in federal, state, and local court systems
- Ability to research and apply court rules and procedures for any jurisdiction
- Experience using docketing software, preferably CompuLaw Vision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and internet research
- Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities
- Ability to adapt to change and manage competing demands
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prioritization and time-management skills
- Experience in a law firm or legal environment preferred
