Paralegal The candidate will be preparing and organizing various legal documents for upcoming cases and trials. Their main duties include preparing affidavits and correspondence, discussing case details with attorneys and clients as well as organizing different files for different legal proceedings. Meets with attorneys, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects. Conducts research, investigates facts, and develops legal arguments. Drafting legal documents such as contracts, depositions, initial drafts of pleadings, and motions. Keeps track of changes in legal framework and provides timely updates on these changes. Preparing and filing documents with courts. Organizing and archiving the documents related to completed and ongoing cases. Filings in State and Federal Court. Calendaring and coordinating deadlines, as well as scheduling hearings and court reporters. E-Discovery. Bates labeling and redacting documents. Assisting during mediation, trial, and hearings (including the preparation of hearing binders). Preparing and organizing exhibits. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge of State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, witnesses, judicial assistants, opposing counsel, and representatives required. Understanding of legal language and principles, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters required. Knowledge of how to request a summons and the serving process required. Investigative mind and strong research skills required. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment required. Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment required. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software required. Certification or Associates Degree in Paralegal studies (Bachelor’s degree is preferred) required. 2 years in a paralegal role required.
