Legal Jobs in Las Vegas
If you are looking for a legal job in Las Vegas, you will undoubtedly find many openings to suit your needs. There are more than 588,000 people that live in the city limits of one of the most recognized cities in the world.

With liberal viewpoints on marriage, divorce and gambling, it's no surprise that there is a considerable criminal element as well. In fact, Nevada as a whole is ranked as the top state for criminal activity. The majority of crimes are property crimes with about 20% made up of violent crimes.

You may want to consider working in the district attorney's office. A DA and assistant DAs are responsible for putting together cases in order to prosecute people accused of participating in illegal activity. There are many people working in the DA's office that don't require the legal training of an attorney or even a paralegal.

For example, you may find a position as a legal administrative assistant. This position is similar to a paralegal, although less formal education and more administrative duties are generally involved. This may include filing reports for the attorney, maintaining contact with different subjects involved with a particular case and communicating case progression. This is typically an office position and involves many clerical duties. For example, there will likely be many duties typing documents and correspondence, so a minimal typing speed is often required. A legal administrative assistant must also be cognizant of how to manage a law office and be aware of law office procedures, equipment and other related tasks, including exceptional telephone skills. This includes computer proficiency and working knowledge of associated software.

Many DAs also work with court advocates to get the necessary assistance for the victim of a crime. A court advocate is a liaison between clients and the courtroom. An advocate works with the client, often in situations related to abuse or assault. As a court advocate, you may be asked to travel to speak with a defendant before a trial, to help seek appropriate social services or simply to support a defendant while waiting to testify in a court case. A court advocate may also work with social workers to help prevent or resolve issues related to substance abuse, damaging relationships or rehabilitation.
