Trust & Estate Planning Associate
Job Responsibilities:
The Trust & Estate Planning Associate will join the Estate Planning Practice Group at the law firm, providing comprehensive and sophisticated estate planning, trust administration, and wealth management advice. The associate will be responsible for:
- Drafting complex estate plans and business succession planning documents, particularly for high net worth individuals.
- Creating complex charitable giving documents.
- Counseling clients on income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax planning.
- Assisting with probate proceedings for both taxable and non-taxable estates.
- Processing Federal gift and estate tax returns.
- Engaging in tax-exempt organization planning.
The role requires strong document drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with a positive attitude and exceptional work ethic. The associate should be highly motivated and capable of contributing effectively to a team.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-approved law school.
- 1-4 years of relevant experience in estate planning and related fields.
- Active membership and good standing in the bar of the jurisdiction(s) where the candidate is admitted to practice. Timely admission to the Bar corresponding to the office of hire is a condition of employment.
- Top academic credentials and relevant experience are required.
Salary Information:
For Chicago applicants, the law firm offers a comprehensive benefits program including Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) Retirement, Disability and Life insurance, Adoption Assistance, and Backup Care for Dependents. Pursuant to the Illinois Equity Pay Act, the expected salary range for the position is between $225,000 - $310,000, with actual pay determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
